- 深入社區:認識灣仔居民,了解他們所想所需,並為社區舉辦各式各樣的活動;
- 議題倡議:透過「灣仔起步」平台,讓地區議題不再侷限於單一小區,而是整個灣仔區集思廣益,共同研究、共同倡議、共同爭取;

Reclaim the council, Democracy now!
Kickstart Wan Chai has established our own crowdfunding campaign – our aim is to raise HK$300K. Support us now!
We aim to win the majority in the upcoming election, as the first step to reform the Council. To achieve this, our ten community organizers have started serving different communities of Wan Chai since June, despite our lack of resources.
Our goal is to have our say!
The previous council controlled by pro-establishment camp lacks transparency, fails to consult residents, disregards the people’s voice and is wasteful on resources. For instance, over HK$100 million are spent on building an ineffective Community Centre at the expense of the only standard Volleyball Court on Hong Kong Island. The Council also abandoned people’s demand to protect justice in Hong Kong. In June, District Councilor Clarisse Yeung wanted to submit a motion to denounce police brutality; not a single Councilor was willing to be a co-signer.
Each member of Kickstart Wan Chai believes in the vision of ‘Democracy needs you’, which means that participation by everyone in the society is the building block of democracy. A transparent council that is open to public participation – can bring positive long term changes to Wan Chai. All Wan Chai residents will benefit from a bottom-up approach of policy-making.
‘Kickstart Wan Chai’? Who are they?
‘Kickstart Wan Chai’ was formed in June by members from a wide variety of background and professions. We joined our hands because of our shared vision: to build a community platform for Wan Chai with democracy at its core.
Our Manifesto
Achieve democratic reform to stop the misuse of power.
Create a democratic council that allows for more public participation.
Listen to residents’ initiatives and ensure resources are used wisely.
Protect our privacy and object to surveillance.
Let Wan Chai unites all of us as one.

Your support is important!
’Kickstart Wan Chai’ has been running for four months. With neither resources of a political party, nor big ticket donation, our finance has solely relied on our own members. This is why your support matters – we need assistance from all citizens who share our vision. Our goal is to raise HK$300k – which shall be used to support all of our members’ community work in the past and future.
Our Work
Communication in community: Speaking to Wan Chai residents allows us to understand their needs and wishes. We organise a variety of activities for different communities.
Advocating for policy change: ’Kickstart Wan Chai’ provides a platform for collaboration and deliberation within the whole Wan Chai district.
Democratic practices: we bring democratic ideas to people through well-designed flyers.
